Voluntary service in Denmark (11 months)

The Højboskolen in Denmark is looking for volunteers who want to work at the school for 10-11 months.

The Danish Højboskolen is a public school for primary and lower secondary education in Hørning, a small town with about 7300 inhabitants on the outskirts of Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark. The school has 530 students aged 6 to 16 – from pre-school to 9th grade.

From mid-August 2023 to early July 2024, Højboskolen is looking for 4 volunteers from different countries who want to get involved in learning activities, sustainability and the 'FabLab'. Your task consists of participating in different classes, working in the school canteen and the after-school club. The volunteers will also carry out learning projects in the field of sustainability and organize various events with the students.

Your tasks

You will take part in language classes as well as theoretical and practical subjects, where you will support the students in their learning process individually or in smaller groups, depending on their skills and competences. 2-3 days a week you participate in the after-school club and plan games and creative activities, e.g. Handicrafts and sports in smaller groups of children. The weekly task also includes working in the school kitchen.

For two volunteers, activities in the school 'FabLab' are part of the timetable, so knowledge, interests or skills in this area are valued. The FabLab deals with e.g. 3D printers, vinyl and laser cutters.

All volunteers are assigned a project coordinator and mentor whose job it is to support the volunteers during their stay to ensure they have a successful stay not only in Højboskolen but also in Denmark in general.

You will be accommodated near Højboskolen in an apartment with a small garden, together with the other volunteers. You share the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. Aarhus, the nearest major city, is only 10 minutes away by train.

Conditions of Participation

Participation in the European Solidarity Corps is free.

The project is open to all motivated young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to volunteer and work in the field of education, regardless of nationality, religion, world view, degree, work experience.
