Support a center for asylum seekers in Belgium
The Rixensart Asylum Seekers Center houses individuals or families from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Congo and other countries who have applied for asylum in Belgium. As a volunteer, you and the animation team will help with daily life in the center and can contribute new ideas.
When?
April 26th - May 09th, 2026
The project
You will provide the center team with advice and assistance and are encouraged to actively participate in the daily life of the center.
Half the time you will suggest and plan activities for children and young people (depending on the residents currently present in the center). Some examples could be: creative and artistic workshops, board games, hiking trips, swimming pool visits, sports and games, films, cultural visits, ...
To a lesser extent and depending on the weather forecast, you also take part in gardening work. For example: last harvest, planting of seasonal vegetables, storage and cleaning of the site. The center recently started a vegetable garden project with and for the residents.
The center's team is very familiar with working with volunteers, having organized this Workcamp for many years.
This project is funded as a volunteering team through the European Solidarity Corps.
This means that as a volunteer in this camp you will receive pocket money and a travel allowance for your trip from Germany to Belgium. Participation in European Solidarity Corps projects is open to all young volunteers aged between 18 and 30 residing in a country participating in the programme.
