Regenerative agriculture, environmental education, and culture in Costa Rica.
Finca La Flor is a non-profit organization in Costa Rica founded over 25 years ago. From the very beginning, the project has benefited from the expertise of local residents, who are deeply familiar with regional crops, planting schedules, and the specific characteristics of the area. Their knowledge played a crucial role in revitalizing the land at the Finca.
Over the years, the organization has collaborated with schools, colleges, universities, and families to develop activities designed to raise awareness of the ecological and social impacts of human actions and to demonstrate paths toward a more respectful and harmonious way of life.
The project currently requires support; consequently, our colleagues at the *Asociación Costarricense de Interculturalidad* are organizing two workcamps at the Finca this year for the first time.
When?
August 10–23, 2026, and November 16–29, 2026.
What is the project about?
The Finca is currently undergoing a revitalization phase in which the principles that historically defined it are being gradually revisited and strengthened: living in harmony with nature, fostering community, using resources consciously, and employing sustainable, socially inclusive practices—all within an environment that promotes well-being and offers cultural enrichment.
Key activities include:

Agriculture (this area is currently being reactivated): Cultivating crops; producing microorganisms, plant extracts, and organic fertilizers; soil preparation prior to sowing (incorporating compost, loosening soil by hand or with a motorized tiller); weeding; sowing (preparing seedbeds, raising seedlings, and subsequent transplanting); harvesting; and seed collection and storage.

Livestock care (horses, goats, chickens): Gathering fodder grass; Feeding twice daily (morning and afternoon); cleaning stables and enclosures; repair work on stables, fences, posts, etc.; daily egg collection; animal care.

Botanical garden and forest: path maintenance; reforestation; tree pruning; expanding the variety of ornamental plants; creating observation points; signage.

Administration: preparing information materials for volunteers and developing tour options; creating social media content; assisting with the maintenance of the project website; documenting activities, procedures, and events; designing simple information materials; identifying institutions and organizations to expand the partner network.

Social engagement and community work: conducting various workshops for local children; supporting community-oriented events; participating in community initiatives.
