Help rebuild a building in Huaquechula that was damaged by the 2017 earthquake!
The earthquake that struck Mexico on September 19, 2017, was centered in the state of Puebla, approximately 120 kilometers southeast of Mexico City.
Huaquechula was located near the earthquake's epicenter and suffered severe damage, yet the villagers' spirit remains unbroken. Our partners at the Mexican Association of International Volunteering AC (AMVIAC) organize international camps here to help with the reconstruction efforts.

What is it about?
You will participate in the documentation, preservation, and restoration of the "Casa de la Palestina."
The "Casa de la Palestina" is a historic 18th-century building in Huaquechula, situated right next to the former San Martín de Tours monastery. In collaboration with local and regional authorities, this camp aims to contribute to the building's preservation, restoration, and revitalization, with the goal of reintegrating it into the community's cultural life and potentially transforming it into a local museum.
Activities include installing two doors crafted using traditional methods by students from the restoration school in Puebla—including the forging of hardware—leveling a stone floor, sealing surfaces with soap and alum, and a mud-brick (adobe) workshop, all of which help revive the community's traditional customs and practices.
Accommodation is provided in a house made available by a local family; the house is fully equipped with all necessary amenities.
