Our Organic World (Denmark)

Participate in a gardening project at the international Danish Folk High School Brenderup.

This Danish school works as a boarding school with an international approach and accepts both Danish and foreign students. For many years, the school has been inviting workcamps that support the construction of various environmentally friendly buildings, such as: These include a straw bale culture and music hall, the elliptical "Lotus House" that functions as a workshop for outdoor living, a treetop shelter, and a bio "fitness center" that uses nature as a training tool.

When?

August 14 - September 03, 2022

What is the project?

Last year, the concept for an "off-grid house" was born in Brederup, a house that produces all the energy within its own walls. This year's work camp will be about completing the work on the off-grid house.

For example, you create flower beds for herbs, build water channels for watering or dig a chamber in the ground to store vegetables in winter. All gardening is done in a sustainable way, with nature, for nature. Other smaller projects can be an outdoor shower heated with solar energy or a steam bath. There is also always maintenance work on former workcamp projects/buildings. All projects focus on ecological and environmentally friendly solutions.

During the camp you will discuss a lot in the group about sustainability - not only as an environmental issue but on all levels - including sustainability between people and cultures.
