Oléron Island (France)

Teenage camp on Oleron Island

The municipality of Grand-Village-Plage is a charming seaside resort in the southwest of the island of Oléron on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and a long-standing partner of our colleagues from Solidarités Jeunesses. For several years, the community has worked to preserve and promote the traditional habitat and way of life of Oleron from the 19th century to the present day.

When?

12-25th July 2024

The project

This camp is working on the construction of a stone wall for the new educational space in the Maison Eco-paysanne Oléron. This space is used as an activity center for the Maison Eco-paysanne. Under the guidance of an expert technical leader, you will learn the traditional masonry techniques of the Ile d'Oléron. Further traditional bricklaying work rounds off your new knowledge.

Safety equipment is provided, but you should bring your own suitable work clothing.

Where does the camp take place?

Oleron Island is known for water activities such as fishing and surfing, the beach, seaside bike rides or beach volleyball. You can also visit cities like La Rochelle and Rochefort from here. Activities and outings are organized with the local population and in particular with the young people of the Grand Village youth center.

Apply now!

This Workcamp is open to all volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17. You can register for the camp here.
