Stories by the lake (Serbia)

Volunteer in the Kraljevac Nature Reserve!

The Serbian organization 'Young Researchers of Serbia' (YRS) was founded in 1976. Together with the sports fishing association "Deliblato Lake", our colleagues from YRS organize a camp for international volunteers every summer: This second oldest workcamp of YRS focuses on the nature reserve "Kraljevac" and what it has to offer to locals and visitors.

When?

July 20th - August 02nd, 2024

The Project

During the day you work on the path by the lake; lends a hand with fixing the benches and other equipment, cleaning the lake shore and setting up a fishing spot. You will also participate in educational workshops with local children.

Where does the camp take place?

Next to the picturesque village of Deliblato, on the largest sandy area in Europe, lies the nature reserve Kraljevac. Kraljevac Lake with its floating and permanently anchored islands, surrounding reed belts, forests, meadows and pastures supports a rich variety of plant and animal life.

Floating and permanently anchored islands are remnants of lowland peat bogs, one of the rarest and most threatened habitats in the world, and represent one of Serbia's last refuges for the relict plant community of marsh fern and gray willow Declared "First Category Protected Area of Outstanding National Importance".

During your free time, you have the opportunity to go on boat trips and get to know the surrounding nature. When packing, please remember appropriate clothing and sun protection as well as a good mosquito repellent!

Apply now!

A total of 12 volunteers are needed. Here you can register directly for the camp.
