Join a Workcamp on a replica 18th century ship
Embark on an extraordinary journey through the waves of time on the Hermione, a faithful replica of an 18th century frigate!
This project aims to offer a unique experience to young volunteers from all over the world. By participating in this international Workcamp, you will immerse yourself in the everyday life of 18th century seafarers and thus contribute to the preservation and restoration of this historic ship.
The camp takes place directly on the ship near Bayonne, on the French Atlantic coast.
When?
June 11th-25th, 2025
What will we work on?
Under the guidance of an experienced boatswain, you will take part in minor maintenance work on the frigate. From navigation to carpentry, every action aboard Hermione creates a tangible connection to the past and provides an invaluable opportunity to discover, learn and preserve our maritime heritage.
Your job will be to take care of every detail, from painting to woodwork to maintenance. With every brush stroke you are committed to preserving maritime history. Get ready to sail into the past while shaping Hermione's future.
In this camp you will sleep in mixed cabins on the ship itself.
The meals are prepared by you and the boat crew, taking into account sustainability and local resources as well as the culture of each individual. Be prepared for hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes.
