Winter Wellbeing (Finland)

Immerse yourself in Finnish winter and local traditions!

If you need a break from your everyday life, this camp is for you. Punkaharju is located in eastern Finland near Savonlinna and is about four hours away by train from Helsinki. In the community college of Punkaharju, located on mountain ridges surrounded by lakes on both sides, our colleagues from Allianssi are organizing a camp in February.

The camp focuses on well-being and Finnish culture and nature, as well as peer support and learning from each other.

When?

February 20 - March 1, 2024

What is it about?

You will take on some seasonal indoor and outdoor tasks. A day is spent making seal-friendly fish traps to protect the Saimaa seal, which is an endangered species with only about 400 left.

Otherwise, it is not a traditional Workcamp - the focus is on intercultural learning. You will learn about many cultural aspects of Finland such as history, literature and music. You will also learn more about Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, which is celebrated on Finnish Culture Day at the end of February.

The area around Punkaharju offers many opportunities for nature and outdoor activities. You can ski, ice skate, snowshoe, ice fish or ice swim.

Apply now!

There are still places available for volunteers from Germany, so register now to take part in this camp.
