Project Clean Beach and Nature Care (Denmark)

Volunteers wanted for cleanups on the beaches of Rømø in Denmark!

Rømø is an island in the Wadden Sea. Rømø is famous for its unique and beautiful marine environment, but without proper protection and environmental awareness it is at risk of being degraded by pollution and human changes over time.

Together with the organization Danish Nature Agency, our colleagues from MS Denmark regularly organize international work camps here. The Danish Nature Agency is an authority under the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food that manages tasks in forests, natural areas and along the coasts of Denmark.

When?

03.-17. August 2025

The project

Your help is needed to protect and secure the island's beaches and marine ecosystems. The aim of this workcamp is to both combat plastic pollution and raise awareness of the importance of keeping our oceans free of waste.

The work consists of collecting rubbish washed up from the sea and cleaning the coast in selected areas. If the weather does not permit work on the beach, the work will be used to maintain the nature of meadows, heaths and forests. This includes felling trees and bushes to preserve forest areas and other practical work.

While you work, you can of course enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful nature and the fantastic views of the beaches.

Patricia did an internship at the IBG office in Stuttgart in spring 2019 and at the end of her internship she took part in this camp in Denmark. You can read her report here.
