World Village Eya (Finland)

Get involved in the World Village Festival in Helsinki!

The World Village Festival is a free cultural and music festival held in Helsinki every year at the end of May. It addresses global challenges and solutions, increases understanding and offers concrete opportunities to bring about change. Around 50,000 visitors are expected on May 24-25, 2025.

There will be dozens of concerts, discussions and workshops. Hundreds of different organizations and institutions as well as other actors will present their work on the festival site.

The horizontal theme of this camp is environmental responsibility and greenwashing. The World Village Festival strives to continuously improve its environmental efforts. For example, only vegetarian food is sold and only recyclable containers are allowed. The festival is committed to recycling all waste.

When?

May 20th-30th, 2025

What is the Workcamp about?

During the first three days, the festival site will be set up. This means carrying fences and tables, putting up tents, putting up signs and banners, distributing the waste bins and helping to decorate the site.

During the festival days, many volunteers are needed in the team that keeps the festival site clean and makes sure that the different types of waste end up in the right bins.

After the festival, volunteers work on dismantling work such as taking down banners, signs and decorations. After the festival, volunteers move to a camp center by the sea and have time to relax and discuss the study topic of environmental responsibility and greenwashing.
