Video, photo or audio are powerful means of expression and can give a voice especially to people who are not listened to enough in our society.
What is participatory media?
Participatory media are means of communication in which users themselves play an active role in collecting, reporting, analyzing and distributing content. This includes, for example, creating and sharing videos, photos, music or other audio.
In participatory media projects, a group or community creates its own film, podcast, or another photo or media project. Co-creation is used to bring people together to discussand analyze problems, share concerns or issues with an audience, or simply to express creativity and storytelling. The collective creation process therefore plays an even more important role than the technical aspects of implementation.
In this training in Spain, you will learn how to design small workshops yourself and thus bring a group into a creative process through participatory media use.

The training takes place in Monte do Gozo near Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.
What will you learn in this training?
The aim of this training is to provide you with tools to design your own workshops and to bring a group into a creative process through participatory media projects. The training includes units on leading workshops and collective creative processes, as well as units on basic and simple (mostly free-of-charge) tools for creating and editing videos, photos, podcasts, etc.
During this training, we will learn about methods together, experiment and try out how participatory media can be used to work with youth groups such as international Workcamps or Youth Exchanges. We will be guided and supported in particular by our colleagues from Agareso, a small organization from Spain that has been running workshops with local and international groups for many years, using audiovisual media as tools for participation and social change. We will develop and plan small project ideas together, one of which you will then implement yourself with a group during summer.
The topic of sustainability and climate protection will be a central focus of all exercises and activities.

Who can participate?
This training is suitable for (future) camp leaders, trainers, youth workers or others who would like to try their hand at working with participatory media projects.
Costs and travel expenses reimbursement
Participation in the training is free of charge.
“Media4Change” is a project that is funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. Your travel costs from Germany to Spain can therefore be up to 309€ (417€ if you use the "green" travel option, i.e. avoid air travel).
