Digitalisation in IVS: Developing Virtual Projects

Erasmus + project 'ProPaD - Progress on the Path of Digitalisation'

As a voluntary service organization, we are facing various challenges that were exacerbated this year by the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, many workcamps cannot take place, and we had to switch to virtual alternatives for trainings and seminars that we previously held 'live' on site as well. This is not always a disadvantage - for many volunteers it can even be easier to attend a digital training or camp. However, as a small workcamp organisation, we do not yet have a lot of experience in coordinating and implementing virtual camps and trainings.

With the strategic partnership 'ProPaD - Progress on the Path of Digitalization' funded by Erasmus + we will exchange experiences with other workcamp organisations over the next two years and jointly develop digital trainings and project alternatives further. We want to increase the progress towards digitisation and develop innovative approaches for international workcamp organisations. The focus will be on digital training and further education opportunities for group leaders and teamers.

Digital training opportunities and virtual workcamps

Together with our partners from Egyesek in Hungary, INEX-SDA in the Czech Republic, Lunaria in Italy and CBB in Belgium, we will mainly focus on two aspects in the 'ProPaD' project:

  1. We want to (further) develop digital trainings for group leaders and teamers in international work camps and volunteer teams. In addition to basic training for future group leaders, we also want to design an advanced module on the subject of inclusion.

  2. In April, we started offering the first virtual camps against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. The experiences with these first completely virtual volunteer projects should be reflected on together with our partners. Together we want to find ways to develop permanent virtual offers.

Have you already joined a virtual volunteering project or a virtual training and would like to share your experience with us? We look forward to ideas, suggestions and feedback from active workcamp volunteers on this project.
