You like the forest, nature and are interested in international exchange? Then this is the right project for you!
In July, together with the Waldschulheim Indelhausen, we are organizing a youth exchange for volunteers from Italy, France, Germany and Poland between the ages of 16 and 20.
The project is about making a contribution to the preservation of the Swabian Alb biosphere reserve and learning more about nature conservation and forest education.
When?
July 14-26, 2024
What is the youth exchange about?
The Waldschulheim in Indelhausen is an educational facility founded in 1977. The building used to be the village school and now serves 1,000 students and teachers every year as an extracurricular place of learning on the subject of forest and nature.
Groups of schoolchildren from grades 7 to 9 of all school types usually stay here for two weeks and take part in various simple forest work tasks, take part in the school forest education programme, go on excursions or play, have fun and do sports.
For two weeks you support the forest school home Indelhausen with two main areas:
-
Every morning (2.5 to 3 hours) you will help with various environmental tasks that contribute to the protection of the surrounding biosphere reserve together with the forest rangers.
-
You will also learn more about forest pedagogy. You will take part in various workshops on topics such as climate change, forest ecosystems and forest management or the protection of biological diversity. If you are interested, you can also contribute to the educational program yourself, e.g. through your own small workshop or similar.
The accommodation
On the first night (July 14th) you all stay in the youth hostel Stuttgart.
On July 15th, after breakfast, you set off to travel together to Indelhausen.
