Climate protection in forests and bogs - how you can help

Under the motto "Let's take action for climate protection" this year, in our workcamps, in trainings, seminars and in the team, we are particularly concerned with the topic of climate protection in forests and bogs.

No matter whether and how long you have been or have been active with IBG - you too can get involved and lend a hand.

How you can get involved

1. Put together information on sustainable travelling with us.

What advice can we give young volunteers to make their journey more ecologically sustainable? We want to collect tips and tricks that make traveling around international workcamps as sustainable as possible. Send us your personal tips.

2. Develop a toolbox for environmental education in workcamps with us

We would like to create an environmental educational toolbox on the subject of forest / moor by summer 2022. Have you attended a workcamp as an eco-messenger or as a group leader organized a workshop on the subject of climate protection in forests and bogs in your camp? We would be happy if you share your experiences with us or if you feel like sending us suggestions and tips. Just get in touch with us.

3. Come up with small challenges on the subject of climate protection with us.

Low waste day, clean-up campaign, a week without animal-based food ... Do you have a good idea for a challenge in connection with nature conservation and ecological sustainability? We want to open various challenges in 2022 that can be implemented by workcamp groups or individually. Send us your creative ideas.

4. Learn more about nature conservation projects with our training for group leaders

In June we will be dealing specifically with the topic of sustainability and nature conservation at one of our training seminars for group leaders: “Group Leading in Environmental Projects” will take place from 14.-19. June 2022 in the youth education workshop in Kell am See.

5. Organize an international workcamp in nature conservation yourself.

In many workcamps around the world, volunteers are already helping to plant trees or rewetting bogs. Do you know an initiative, a project or an association that is also involved in this area and could use support from international volunteers? Then just contact us so that we can think about how we can organize a workcamp together.

More information on nature protection through workcamps is also available in our new brochure "Naturschutzprojekte mit internationalen Workcamps umsetzen", which is available to download free of charge. Print copies of the brochure can be ordered from us by email (also free of charge).

6. Help us expand our network.

What channels do we use to reach young people committed to nature conservation who have not (yet) looked for international projects? Contact us if you have a tip about which channels we could use to inform about our workcamps in nature protection.
